Legendary Mwiba Lodge is a very high quality permanent facility, one of the very best in the Serengeti region, a genuinely top-end option. It is set on the private Maswa Conservancy, an enormous pristine wildlife area which adjoins the southwest Serengeti and ranges across 542 square kilometres. This really is a serious quiet backwater, very far from the crowds in the core areas of the main parks.
The lodge is open May to March, closing for the main rains in April. The main migration herds are often in the area Dec/Mar, but there is good resident wildlife throughout the year.
The camp is usually accessed by light aircraft direct into the local airstrip, or connected to other parts of the Northern Parks by vehicle.
The usual stay duration is 3 to 4 nights.
Public areas are extremely comfortable and are set upon multiple levels cascading down to a nice swimming pool. There is also a well equipped gym and extensive spa facility.
Guest accommodation is in ten superb suites, amongst the nicest in Africa. Canvas in construction, it would be demeaning to describe them as tents. Fronted by a lovely verandah with views down to the river, each room contains a lounge, sleeping area and bathroom, with an outside shower at the far end. Two further family suites have two separate bedrooms, connected in such a way that they could be shared by two couples too, with independent bathrooms.
It offers elevated levels of service, notable with very high quality dining and an extensive cellar.
Children of all ages welcome.
